9 medals from special national athletes

National athletes won 9 medals, 5 silver and 4 bronze, at the 2024 VIRTUS Special Athletes World and European Ski Championship held in Poland.

According to the statement made by the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation, special athletes with crescent and star competed in the II3 and II1 categories in the organization held in the city of Zakopane.

In the championship, national athlete Aliye Zeynep Bingül won 5 silver and 3 bronze medals in different races in the European continent and the world rankings in the II3 category.

In the championship, national athlete Ayşe Kader Yavuz came third in the II1 category.

Birol Aydın, President of the Turkish Special Athletes Sports Federation, whose views were included in the statement, said, "Our special athlete with autism, Aliye Zeynep Bingül, who competed in the II3 category for the first time, made us proud by winning 8 medals, 5 silver and 3 bronze.

As the Federation, we have been competing with autism, down and mental athletes separately since 2013. Today, it was fair for VIRTUS to compete separately for autism, down and mental athletes for the first time, and our special athletes with autism were able to show their real performance.

Another special athlete with autism, Muhsin Murat Bingül, narrowly missed the medal. I believe that Murat will also win a medal in the first championship to be held in 2025. I congratulate Ayşe Kader Yavuz, who came third in Europe in the II1 category. "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our athletes and the technical staff."
