Rowing Federation President İlhami İşseven said that even the Olympic games could be held in Iznik Lake.
İşseven, visited Orhangazi Governor Mustafa Salman Yurdaer along with federation board members. After the visit, İşseven, who inspected İznik Lake with Yurdaer, noted that the part of the lake within the boundaries of Orhangazi district is particularly suitable for rowing sports.
Expressing that they have seen a natural environment suitable for rowing sports like the shores of İznik Lake only in Switzerland during competitions held abroad, İşseven stated, "We will immediately start working on making İznik Lake suitable for rowing sports. We can organize one leg of the Turkey Rowing Championship planned for September in İznik Lake."
Emphasizing that İznik Lake is not only suitable for rowing but also for all water sports branches, İşseven highlighted, "Turkey is a candidate for the 2020 Olympics. Olympic games could even be held in İznik Lake. However, facilities need to be built for this. I will bring this matter to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
