The First National Marathon Devrek

The event, accompanied by the Devrek Band, featured a 21-kilometer half marathon, a 10-kilometer run, and a 3-kilometer public run.

95-year-old Safder Kartoğlu, the oldest national athlete who has run marathons on all five continents, also supported the event, which saw a total of 600 participants.

Having registered for the public run, Kartoğlu, along with Devrek Mayor Çetin Bozkurt and participants, sang songs and walked 3 kilometers. Citizens also supported the event from their balconies with applause.

Kartoğlu expressed heartfelt wishes for the successful conclusion of the half marathon to journalists and extended his best wishes to the athletes.

Mayor Bozkurt emphasized the unifying power of sports, stating that Kartoğlu introduced Devrek to marathons and successfully represented the town worldwide. In the men's category of the races, Ömer Alkanoğlu secured first place, followed by Abdurrahman Gedikoğlu in second, and Yunus Emre Akkuş in third. In the women's category, Meryem Kılıç Gündoğan claimed first place, Rahime Tekin came in second, and Zeynep Burcu Akbaba secured third place.
